Parklands Jog and Run
Parklands Jog & Run is a mixed ability running fitness group. Members range from complete beginners to top level club runners. We meet every Monday at Parklands Community Centre car park and every Thursday at the Racecourse car park both at 6pm.
In early 2015 Parklands joined forces with Tough Running Northampton to provide even more sessions for our members and to become a bigger, stronger team, particularly in obstacle course races. These sessions take place at Hunsbury Hill on Saturday and Sunday mornings. The group is also part of Run England’s project to get the whole country active.
On 22nd November they took a team over to the Milton Keynes MoRun in Campbell Park and did splendidly well!
- Chris Lamb won the 5k carrying the club mascot 'Tarquin the Trye'
- Peter Currington won the 10k race.
- Julie Currington completed the 5k which was her her comeback race after several months out after being rushed into hospital with an unexplained stomach problem with resulted in an operation.
6 Other members took part in the 10K:
- Becky Dixey & Adam Ferguson who were both back at the race where they ran their first ever 10k's and have since gone on to run half marathons & be part of our team for a 24 hour ultra race. They both got big PB's.
- Damian Croft & Jen Wollett who were both running 10k for the first time having only started running this year. Both have lost a considerable amount of weight in the process, in Damian's case over 5 stone!
- Amanda Conroy was running in memory of her father who lost his life to cancer on what would have been his birthday and she was running alongside her 9 year old son Charlie Conroy (our youngest member) who also completed the 10k.
Parklands Jog & Run aims to help all its members achieve their short & long term fitness targets however big or small they may be.
